HERO FRISKED!!!

Folks our dear SRK had some recent troubles.Salman Khan commented on the issue saying that its good that the country has a tight set-up, and the outcome is there has been no attack after 9/11.Salman has a point.

SRK might be an icon to Indians and many in the subcontinent, even to the desi diaspora spread across the globe, but to America he’s just a visitor. We may be convinced he cannot be involved in anything that’s remotely violent, but the guard given the responsibility of stopping something like 9/11 from happening in his country again will want to take no chances. And what is the possibility that he’s a die hard fan of the Khan and Bollywood? Very slim...indeed.

SRK says he’s ``upset and angry’’(these were his exact words) because it was his Muslim name that caused him all this 'troubles'. Thousands of Muslims are made to go through extra security checks everyday in America and many other Western countries. Is he equally upset at that? He's probably just pissed that it happened to him, India's mega star.

We all know how a lot of Muslims have been subjected to prejudice around the world because many countries see terrorism as an Islamic phenomenon. Yes, it is uncalled for, unjust and maybe wrong. But America is a country that takes the killings of its people with the seriousness it deserves, unlike India whose record on this is shameful.

America doesn’t have a culture of fawning the way India has. Mike Tyson was treated like a common rapist and spent most part of his youth in the slammer.

We are actually aggrieved because we are ``not like them’’. Well, guess what. It isn’t a virtue. We should be like them and take the security of our country and its people with solemn, no-nonsense professionalism.

But we come out with ruthless statements:- Frisk Brad Pitt when he lands in India next. Give Tom Cruise the same dose. Don’t spare Bill Clinton either. Isn’t he an ex-prez just like Kalam?

We are just whimpering over here like hurt puppies. Even our political leaders.Later even SRK realized that he was reacting way too much and made considerable changes in his following statements. Well ..SRK time to join politics.

There’s a lesson in this. A positive one. A day after our own 26/11, there was hardly any security at CST in Mumbai. It can’t get worse than that. The bottom line: Stop fawning and make no compromise where the country’s safety is concerned. Can we do that?

Secular India

Indira Gandhi once answered in an interview that our major achievement after 30 years of independence is that we have "survived" as a nation. At first look it appears intangible but "survival" has a deeper meaning. A nation that was predicted to disintegrate after its 10 years of independence stands united still.Against all odds we are united atleast claim of being so.

And now we have her followers claiming to be secular and implementing all sorts of beneficial policies for the "reeling sections". The dream of secular India seems to be coming true...or does it not. Recently,Emraan Hashmi expressed the hassles he is facing in Mumbai. Is he really? or is it just a popularity stunt? Well..truth is yet to be unveiled. But one thing is for sure, disputes do subsist. From vociferous rallies to extremely unfortunate riots we have many "replies" to such disputes. Some may call it Fanticism ..some religious war and some even an uprising. It appears as if God is the One creating all disputes.

Reality ....?? It is all in our minds. Almost all of us narrow our eyes and may be even give a frosted nose stare to a person of a different community amongst ours . We commit several mistakes and are ready to forgive ourselves. But when it comes to others our scepticism suddenly rises. Agreed it is very human to just care for oneself and forget about others . And such behaviour has crept into the Indian society for long now. But also it is humanity to develop a level of susceptibility .

Talking specifically about India , we boast of being the most diverse nation in the world. Caste,Colour,Creed,Religion,Language ..name it and we have got it. So how does susceptibility develops with such a variety.Clashes are bound to happen. A routine for one may be blasphemy for other. For about 6 centuries now Indians are resolving disputes and developing new. And obviously we have the "sufferers" and the "benefactors".The former being many times of the latter in numbers. Infact, Empires have been created harnessing such differences. And they still keep on existing, probably more intense than ever before.

So ..? Is the dream shattering? We all know the answers. Evidently the steps taken to abolish discriminations are developing new ones. Policies made by the demagogues are not helping. It is left to the people, yet again, to realize the dream. Its just your perception .
